The heartwarming and whimsical story revolves around a quirky loaf of bread who goes around stealing baked goods from city bakeries.

Ayaka Asai leads the voice cast as the titular character, Pan Dorobō.

Behind the scenes, Takahiko Kyōgoku (Love Live! School idol project, Love Live! Superstar!!, GATE) is directing the project at Shinei Animation, with Chie Yamashiro (Hunter × Hunter, Parasyte -the maxim-) serving as assistant director. Character designs are being handled by Mako Miyako (You and I Are Polar Opposites), and Mariko Mochizuki (Somali and the Forest Spirit) is penning the series scripts. Additionally, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu will perform the show’s ending theme song, “Pan Dorobō.”

Fans can mark their calendars, as the anime is scheduled to make its official television premiere this October.

Keiko Shibata launched the original picture book in April 2020. The franchise has continued to grow rapidly, with its seventh installment, Pan Dorobō to Sweets Ōji (Bread Thief and the Sweet Prince), hitting shelves on September 10.

To date, the celebrated book series boasts an impressive 4.5 million copies in circulation and has picked up numerous accolades, including the 11th LIBRO Picture Book Prize.
