Omoi outlines the plot for Delinquent Detective: Sukeban Deka as follows:

For the very first time, the legendary shojo crime thriller Sukeban Deka is coming to English-speaking audiences this fall, available exclusively through Omoi!

The story follows Saki Asamiya, a notorious high school delinquent locked away in a maximum-security juvenile detention facility. She is handed a lifeline by the police: if she goes undercover to infiltrate Japan’s elite schools and solve crimes beyond the reach of the law, her mother’s execution will be called off. Armed with a custom steel yo-yo and posing as an ordinary student, Saki takes on corrupt educators and scheming classmates to unravel dark conspiracies. Discover the foundational shojo manga that sparked the beloved live-action Sukeban Deka franchise and left a lasting mark on generations of creators, inspiring hits like Kill la Kill!

The late Shinji Wada originally serialized the manga within Hakusensha‘s Hana to Yume magazine from 1976 to 1982. Over the decades, the property has inspired a 1991 original video anime (OVA), multiple live-action television series and films throughout the 1980s, and a 2006 live-action movie. More recently, the franchise expanded with two spin-off manga launched in 2021: Saori Muronaga’s Toki o Kakeru Sukeban Deka (Sukeban Deka who leapt through time), which ran from January 2021 to 2023, and Ashibi Fukui’s Re: Sukeban Deka—a Reiwa-era reimagining of the Showa-classic—which ran from February 2021 until July 2025.

Alongside these announcements, Omoi is rolling out a substantial collection of Kodansha manga. Early volumes for six of these titles are already accessible to readers.

All newly added Kodansha titles are available to purchase by the volume, with Omoi Premium subscribers receiving a 20% discount on all volume purchases.
