Bleach is charging toward its grand finale with the latest installment of the Thousand-Year Blood War arc, bringing the epic clash between Ichigo Kurosaki and Yhwach to an explosive close this year. While Studio Pierrot’s anime adaptation is wrapping up its final chapter, that is not the only major milestone the supernatural shonen titan is celebrating. The manga officially debuted in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump 25 years ago in 2001, prompting Tite Kubo’s iconic franchise to roll out several celebratory events for the Soul Society.
To commemorate a quarter-century of Bleach—with the official anniversary landing on August 7th—the franchise has massive plans in motion. Among the highlights is a brand-new art book titled “Bleach: JET,” featuring fresh illustrations that explore the origins of the Soul Reapers and iconic villains throughout the series’ history. Looking ahead to 2027, fans in Japan will also be treated to a special “Bleach Exhibition,” showcasing classic franchise artwork up close. On top of these festivities, the series is dropping a sequel to the unconventional spin-off light novel *Don’t Bleach My Fist*, which playfully reimagines Kubo’s supernatural universe as a grounded high school drama. Even as the Blood War draws to a close, it is an incredible time to be part of the fandom.
The Future of The Soul Society
Ever since the Thousand-Year Blood War anime adaptation premiered in 2022, Studio Pierrot has masterfully brought Bleach‘s final major arc to life. For years, many fans doubted that Ichigo’s ultimate battle against the Sternritter would ever make it to the screen, but the studio proved the skeptics wrong. Following theatrical screenings of “The Calamity” earlier this year, the remaining weekly episodes are currently streaming on Hulu, moving rapidly toward a definitive conclusion.
Despite the massive success of the Blood War, the long-term future of the Bleach anime and manga remains unconfirmed. Back in 2021, series creator Tite Kubo delighted fans with a special one-shot titled *Bleach: No Breaths From Hell*, which explored Ichigo and the Shinigami years into the future. Although that chapter concluded on a major cliffhanger, Kubo has not yet announced plans to officially revive the ongoing series. While rumors regularly circulate about a potential comeback, nothing is set in stone. Even if this current arc marks the absolute end of the road for the Bleach anime, getting to see this final adaptation brought to life has been a dream come true for the community.
